Oceans ISO 19115 Topic Categories bays, coastal information
This feature class is a component of TPWD 'base' data. 'Base' data includes current, statewide geospatial information intended to provided context for mapping purposes. The Coastal Fisheries Division used this feature class to provide better resolution for mapping harvest monitoring database.
This feature class defines minor bays along the Texas Gulf Coast.

Selected arcs out of primary source coverage (esi-beg(nwi)) that composed minor bays in CF-TPWD operations manual. If a minorbay was not present in the primary coverage, then secondary coverages were referred to in this order: TxDOT, NOAA, USGS, DOQQ, TPWD counties layer. Each minorbay's boundary was selected from it's parent coverage, then was edited and built to form a polygon. Then appended to and attributed. This is revision number 2. The 1st was flawed because many contiguous polygons were not represented as such. Revisions by Ashley Summers used the TPWD counties layer from 2004 to determine the outline of missing bay area in the Upper Laguna Madre. Reviews_Applied_to_Data Two interns performed the initial revisions. These were verified or corrected.
