Harold D. Oates – Obituary and Assessment Call

Harold D. Oates of Shelby County, now residing in Nacogdoches, passed away February 6, 2015 at Nacogdoches Medical Center.

Services will be 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, February 10, 2015 at Mangum Funeral Home Chapel with Brother Pat Windham, Brother Don Noble, Brother Jason Lott and Brother Doc Lazarine officiating. Burial will follow at Oaklawn Memorial Park with the last call given by the Texas State Game Wardens. Visitation will be Tuesday, starting at 12 noon until service time at Mangum Funeral Home.

Harold was born January 17, 1936 in Shelby County to Steve W. Oats and Amanda Lavada (Gann) Oates. He worked for the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department as a Game Warden from 1965 to 1995. He was the instructor for the Game Warden Academy at Texas A&M University and he retired as a Lieutenant Commander and Director of Inland Waterways and Fisheries. He was a member of the University Baptist Church in Nacogdoches.

Pallbearers will be the Texas State Game Wardens. Honorary Pallbearers are John Doggett, Trever Doggett, James Harold Enmon, Walt Baty, Lamar Norton, Chad Norton, Clint Norton, Larry Hinton and Larry Enmon.

The Texas Parks and Wildlife Mutual Association (TPW Mutual Association) regrets to inform you of the death of one of our members, Harold D. Oates.

Harold became a member of the TPW Mutual Association on July 13, 1979. He retained his membership up until his death on February 6, 2015. A check in the amount of $5,000 was delivered to Mrs. Pauline Oates.

An assessment in the amount of $20.00 will be necessary to bring the policy fund back into balance to have payments on hand for other members in case of death. Please make this payment by the due date listed above.
