Larry Humphries Griffin – Obituary and Assessment Call

Larry Humphries Griffin, 75, of Cotulla, Texas, passed away on November 30, 2016.  A memorial service was held on December 3, 2016, at the Larry Griffin Emergency Management Center in Cotulla.

He was born on March 15, 1941, in San Angelo, Texas, to Buster and Noni Griffin.  Larry married Frankie Lou Eckert, of Paint Rock, Texas, on August 20, 1965, and had one son, Shawn, in 1969.  He was preceded in death by his parents, and is survived by his wife and son.  He graduated from San Angelo Central High School in May, 1960.  He joined the U. S. Army on April 11, 1962, and served two years with the 64th Military Police Company in France and Turkey.

He joined the Texas Parks and Wildlife as a Game Warden on September 14, 1966, and was posted to Edinburg.  He moved to McAllen in 1970, and to Cotulla in 1971, where he stayed until he retired in 2003.  He served with the Cotulla Volunteer Fire Department from 1972 to 1981, and served as the Chief of the CVFD in 1981.  The La Salle County Emergency Operations Center is dedicated to him.  He was an avid golfer, and enjoyed hunting and fishing.

The Texas Parks and Wildlife Mutual Association (TPW Mutual Association) regrets to inform you of the death of one of our members, Larry Griffin.

Larry became a member of the TPW Mutual Association on August 4, 1976. He retained his membership up until his death on November 30, 2016. A check in the amount of $5,000 was delivered to Mrs. Frankie Griffin.

An assessment in the amount of $20.00 will be necessary to bring the policy fund back into balance to have payments on hand for other members in case of death. Please make this payment by the due date listed above.
