Frank D. Dickerson – Obituary and Assessment Call

Frank D. DickersonOn this day of September 22, 2011, surrounded by his loving family, Frank D. Dickerson heard the call of the heavenly trumpet to go meet his Lord and Savior. We thank you Jesus for taking him away from this pain on earth and making him whole again in your kingdom.

He was born on February 25, 1933 in the city of Baytown, Texas. He lived 78 wonderful years filled with love and joy. He graduated from Robert E. Lee High School in 1950. Two years later he joined the U.S. Navy on January 28, 1952 and served four years upon the USS Frontier AD25. He joined the Naval Reserve on January 24, 1956 and married his loving wife, Faye Dickerson later that year on May 7, 1956 in Baytown, Texas. He served four years with the Naval Reserve and was given an honorable discharge from the military in January of 1960 after eight years of service and was awarded the Korean Service Medal. He then attended Texas A&M College and graduated October of 1962. Upon completion of his college he was commissioned as a Game and Fish Warden for the Game and Fish Commission of the State of Texas. He served as a Game Warden for the Texas Department of Parks and Wildlife for 31 years. His first duty station was in Port Arthur, Texas in 1963. After that he was stationed in Brady, Texas and then moved to San Angelo in 1969 where he obtained the rank of Captain and District Chief. He then served as a District Chief in Houston and then in Kerrville in 1972. He moved to Corpus Christi, Texas in 1975 where he served the remainder of his career as Region 10 Director to Texas Parks and Wildlife.

Throughout his life he was an avid hunter and fisherman and worked hard to write laws to conserve and protect natural resources of our great state. He had a love for building things and an obsession with tools, having built and added onto most of his own house as well as constructing many different major projects and buildings both during and after his career. He passionately shared the love and knowledge of his interest to everyone in his family.

He was preceded in death by his father Louis G. Dickerson and Mother Julia L. Dickerson of Baytown, Texas, and brothers L.T., Corky, Marshall, Williard, Jerry, and sisters Vida Taylor and Ruth McDaniel and great grandson Frank Donte' McCoy.

Survivors include his wife of 54 years Faye Dickerson of Corpus Christi, Texas. His children Renea Dickerson, Sandra Britt, and Cheryl Davis of Corpus Christi, Texas. His grandchildren Robert "Bobby" Green of Corpus Christi, Texas, Joseph "Andy" and wife Angela Green of Corpus Christi, Texas, Rhonda and husband Michael Martinez of San Antonio, Texas, Kristy and husband Jason Wilkinson of New Braunfels, Texas, Amber and husband Richard Martinez of Dallas, Texas, Hunter "Bubba" Taylor of Wiley, Texas, Jennifer Schoenfeld and Julia Schoenfeld of Corpus Christi, Texas. His great-grandchildren Paige, Aiden, and Payton Green of Corpus Christi, Texas, Tanner, Montana, Nicholas (Noe) Martinez of Dallas, Texas, Tabitha and Brianna McCoy, and Anna Downs of Corpus Christi, Texas. His brother Dale and wife Ivy Dickerson of Fort Worth, Texas, his sister Gloria Don Boring of Rhode Island. And his many nieces and nephews. He will be missed dearly and will live forever in the hearts and minds of his loved ones.

Pallbearers included Roy Lawrence, Kevin McDonald, Jack King, Larry Young, Raul "Pinky" Gonzalez, Ken Baker.

Frank became a member of the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department Mutual Association formerly the Texas Game and Fish Commission Mutual Association on April 11, 1969. He retained his membership up until his death on September 22, 2011.

A check in the amount of $5,010 was delivered to Mrs. Frank Dickerson, on Sunday, September 25, 2011.

An assessment in the amount of $16.00 will be necessary to bring the policy fund back into balance to have payments on hand for two members in case of death. Please make this payment by September 25, 2011.
