Ray "R.S." Stafford Hanson – Obituary and Assessment Call

Ray Stafford HansonFuneral services for Ray Stafford "R.S." Hanson, 86, of Zavalla will be held Thursday, June 16, 2011 at 10 a.m. in the Zavalla First Baptist Church with Reverend Jacob Fitzgerald officiating. Graveside services will be held at 1 p.m. in the Nettles Cemetery in Livingston. Mr. Hanson was born October 28, 1924 in Oakland, California to the late Myrtle (Andrus) and Ray Clarence Hanson, and died Sunday, June 12, 2011 in a local hospital.

A former resident of League City, he had resided in Zavalla for 24 years. Mr. Hanson served in the U.S. Air Force and worked for Texas Parks and Wildlife for 29 years. He was a member of the Zavalla First Baptist Church. Survivors include his wife, Gloria Hanson of Zavalla; daughter and son-in-law, Laura and Terry Huckaby of Katy; grandchildren, Ashlyn and Colton Huckaby of Katy; nieces and husbands, Linda Hanson of Boerne, Bonnie and Reagan Sanford of Diana and Janice and Robert Kramm of Houston; stepdaughters and husbands, Marsha and Bill Seabourne of Lumberton, Leesa and Kerry Stevens of Port Neches and Sylvia Nettles of Carrollton; stepson and wife, Daron and Alison Nettles of Nederland; nine grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Hanson was preceded in death by his brother, Leonard Hanson; and nephew, Leslie Hanson. Pallbearers will be Wayne Oliver, Keith Wright, Kerry Stevens, Chris Seabourne, Clifton English and Jacob Nettles. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association , 1125 Judson Road #150, Longview, Texas 75601 or the American Cancer Society , 212 Gene Samford Drive, Lufkin, Texas 75904. Ray graduated from the 11th Texas Game Warden Training Academy in the spring of 1958. On March 1, 1974 he became an Engineering Tech V where he was responsible for monitoring and auditing sand, shell and gravel operations. He retired on December 31, 1986. Ray was a member of the Texas Parks and Wildlife Mutual Association.

The Texas Parks and Wildlife Department Mutual Association (TPWD Mutual Association) regrets to inform you of the death of another of our members, Ray Stanford "R.S." Hanson.

Ray became a member of the Texas Game and Fish Commission, aka Texas Parks and Wildlife Department Mutual Association on April 8, 1960. He retained his membership up until his death on June 12, 2011.

Additional information on Mr. Ray Hanson is on the reverse side of this assessment letter.

A check in the amount of $5,340.00 will be delivered to Laura Huckaby, Ray's daughter, as soon as possible.

An assessment in the amount of $16.00 will be necessary to bring the policy fund back into balance to have payments on hand for two members in case of death. Please make this payment by July 22, 2011.
