The Texas Adopt-A-Beach program is an all-volunteer effort to remove debris from our beaches and coastal waters, and to increase public awareness about the problem of beach litter. Since the first cleanup in 1986, more than 446,000 Texas Adopt-A-Beach volunteers have picked up more than 8,500 tons of trash from Texas beaches, some of it originating from as far away as South America.
Join us in our efforts here at Mustang Island State Park during our Spring 2014 Cleanup on April 26th! Sign-in will be in the headquarters parking lot, beginning at 9:00AM. We recommend that you and your group pre-register online. That can be done at the Texas General Land Office's Adopt-A-Beach participant page, found here. Be sure to select Mustang Island State Park as your cleanup site!
The beach cleanup will begin at 9:00AM after sign-in and last until 11:30AM. We will then meet back in the headquarters parking lot for a hot dog lunch, generously provided by our sponsors, Wienerschnitzel and H-E-B, and we'll be drawing tickets for some door prizes donated by Academy Sports & Outdoors!
The first twenty-five people to sign in on cleanup day will receive a free Adopt-A-Beach goodie bag! We will provide everything that you need for the cleanup - data cards, pencils, trash bags, and gloves! All you need to bring is weather appropriate clothing and the ambition to help clean our coast!
All park entrance fees are waived for participants in the cleanup - feel free to stay afterwards to enjoy the park's surf, sun and sand! Be sure to check out the afternoon geocaching program & try your hand at Backyard Bass!
We would like to once again thank our sponsors this year, Wienerschnitzel, Academy Sports & Outdoors, and H-E-B, for their generous donations!
