Don't Mess with Texas - Trash Off!
Sat, April 08, 2017
Calling all scout groups, NJHS members, and do-gooders! Join volunteers just like you to help pick up trash at Bastrop State Park for Earth Month!
"The Don’t mess with Texas Trash-Off is the single largest one-day cleanup event in the state and serves as Texas’s signature event for the Great American Cleanup, the nation's largest community improvement program, held annually from March 1 through May 31. The Don’t mess with Texas Trash-Off is part of TxDOT’s litter prevention program, which includes Don’t mess with Texas, Adopt-a-Highway, and a grassroots partnership with Keep Texas Beautiful."
We're partnering with Keep Bastrop County Beautiful and facilitating a volunteer project here in the park!
All entry fees are waived for volunteers, but you need to register you and your group with Keep Bastrop County Beautiful to be counted!
All ages are welcome, but minors (those under 18 years of age) must be accompanied by a parent or guardian for the duration of the event.
All participants must bring their own transportation to the registration site.
Registration: Meet at the playground at Bastrop State Park at 9am. We will be departing together to the clean-up location by 9:30am. Please be prompt.
Where will we be cleaning?: We will caravan together in our own vehicles to the clean up site. We will be working along Loop 150 and HWY 21. Minors will work inside the park boundary, those over the age of 18 will be on the highway side of the park boundary.
Can Someone Sign my Community Service Hours: Yes!
Why Should I Do This? 97% of Texas is privately owned. Bastrop State Park is one of the few places in Texas that is owned by the people! This is your State Park! Help keep it clean for everyone to enjoy!
