Meet a Park Ranger at the Goose Island State Park Day Use/Picnic Area for a First Day Bird Hike.  An important part of birding is being familiar with how to use your binoculars, at the beginning of the Hike we will go over how to adjust binoculars.   Then we will head out to see the birds.  Our Bird Walks typically cover one area, the shore or the woods.  For the bird hike we will cover both areas, which way we go first will depend on the weather!  Between areas we will have a brief break at the Day Use area for bathroom breaks, before continuing to the next portion of the Bird Hike.

When:  Wednesday 8:30 a.m.

Where to meet:  The Day Use Picnic Area Parking lot.  When you enter the park stay on the main road, it will be the first parking area to your left.

What are we doing:  Identify birds, become familiar with your binoculars, and hiking!

Things to bring:  Binoculars, water, sun screen, shoes suitable for walking, a camera, and be sure to wear weather appropriate clothing. There will be a few pairs of binoculars available for loan, but it is best to bring your own.

Fees:  There is no fee for attending the program.  Although a valid park entrance permit is required to access the day use area.  Day Entry fees are $5 per person 13 years of age and up, children 12 and under are free.
