Meet a Park Ranger at the Goose Island State Park fishing pier for a morning bird walk.  Participants will look for birds and use field marks to try and identify the species seen.  An important part of birding is being familiar with how to use your binoculars.  At the beginning of the walk we will go over how to adjust binoculars, some of the birds we will see are large and stationary and perfect to practice on.

When:  Wednesday 8:30 a.m.

Where to meet:  The parking area next to the fishing pier.

What are we doing:  Identify birds, become familiar with your binoculars, and use field marks to identify birds.

Things to bring:  Binoculars, water, sun screen, shoes suitable for walking, a camera, and be sure to wear weather appropriate clothing. There will be a few pairs of binoculars available for loan, but it is best to bring your own.

Walks may be canceled or postponed in event of rain.

There is no fee for attending this program although park entrance  is required.  Entrance fees are $5 per person over the age of 13, children 12 and under are free, or free with a current Texas State Park Pass.  Appropriate for all ages and all skills of birders.  We do have a few pairs of binoculars available for use during the program.  If planning on borrowing a pair of binoculars please email to reserve a pair.
