Lake Casa Blanca State Park did not always look the way it does now. 40 million years ago--after the dinosaurs died out, but long before people walked the earth, this area was on the banks of a sea, and home to many strange animals, such as 20-foot-long sea snakes, and four-toed horses! Scientists have learned all of this from fossils here at the park.
Join us as we discover Lake Casa Blanca's past, look at some real fossils, practice "excavating" chocolate chip "fossils", and then make your own fossil cast to take home with you!
Meet at the Rock Barn Shelter (see photo below). Children must be accompanied by an adult.
Note: Park programs are open to the public and free with park entrance fee ($4 per person age 13 and up; children 12 and under are free). No need to register--just show up!
