Relaxed, island-style birding introduction for families.
Ranger Lisa invites you to join us on a brief birding orientation and hike, to discover some of the great opportunities on Galveston. We'll discuss identification, field skills, listing, and why this island is a birding paradise!
Binoculars, scope, and lots of information available to everyone. Pets welcome on leash, but make birding more challenging.
What to bring:
- Park permit (left in vehicle)
- Water bottle
- Hiking and birding gear
- Binoculars if you have them (option to borrow from Ranger)
ATTENTION LOCAL YOUTH:
Galveston Island State Park is hosting a birding competition for families and youth on Saturday, April 30th, called the Great Texas Birding Classic. Ask Ranger Lisa about this event, and prepare for fun with this great Birding 101 program.
