Explore the Night Sky

Join us for an evening of star gazing and planet-watching.

Explore the night sky with the San Antonio Astronomical Association. We’ll be viewing many constellations and planets and learning about them. We hope to view Venus, Mars and Jupiter. We’ll also look for star clusters, nebula, and much more. Learn the basics of telescope operation. Bring your own telescope or binoculars or enjoy the sights from one of the SAAA’s telescopes.

Park in Lot A and walk the short distance (less than 0.5 mile) to Parking Lot C where the telescopes will be set up. Dress for the weather. Bring water, a snack if you like, and your own flashlight for the walk. Flashlights can only be used near the telescopes with a red lens cover. Open to all ages; participants under 18 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. No pets please.

Registration is NOT required. Though the activity is free, entrance fees to the Natural Area do apply. We often fill to capacity. To ensure entrance and save time at the Fee Booth, please pre-purchase and print out a day pass

This program is weather-dependent and subject to cancellation. Check trail conditions by calling GCSNA's main office at 210-688-9055, or go to the GCSNA webpage, Instagram, or Facebook.
