Great Texas Trash Off
Join staff and volunteers from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. in getting trash off the roadsides, trails and campgrounds. Volunteers are admitted free for the day and are invited to attend the "Meet the Longhorns" program at 2:00 p.m. A prize will be awarded to the person who collects the most trash. Check in at the park headquarters to sign up and get bags and a safety vest.

Volunteers need to have comfortable walking shoes, and a hat. Also it is recommended that volunteers bring gloves and plenty of water.
Areas to be picked up are the 2 mile highway frontage on State highway 6, the park trails, and park campgrounds.
The park staff and volunteers were the 1988 winner of the state wide "Litter Gitter" award.
