Lake Colorado City State Park is putting on a Guided Kayaking Program to teach the basic skills of kayaking and to provide an opportunity to get out on the lake. The park Superintendent, Kyle O’Haver, is has 3 workshops available on Saturday July 12th that you can call the park to sign up for. The park is providing the kayaks and life vests however if you want to bring your own and join in just let them know. As overall class sizes are limited. The program lasts 1 ½ hours and will go over basic equipment, safety on the water, maneuvering skills, and a follow the leader guided trip. This is a great opportunity for beginners or if you just wanted to brush up on skills and safety.
You must call the park office at (325) 728-3931 to register for a time as seating is limited. 9:00am-10:30am, 10:30am-12:00noon, 1:00pm-2:30pm are the 3 program times for you to choose from. Double kayaks have a 400lb weight limit and we have 2 single kayaks with a 225lb weight limit. Children must be accompanied by an adult on the kayak. There is no cost for the program however you will still need to pay daily entrance fees of $4 per adult and children 12 and under are free. If you have a valid Texas State Park Pass there is no charge.
