Set out on an adventure with park staff to tour the lake while discovering nature and history along the way. This three-hour program is suggested for folks with some kayaking experience due to the length of paddle on flat water. If you have participated in the Basic Kayaking Program previously at Lake Colorado City State Park and if you feel you are up to a much longer paddle, or if you have experience kayaking here or other places, call and sign up now.
Number of participants is limited to 15 total and that includes: four double kayaks with a 400-pound max and two individual kayaks with a 250-pound limit, totaling 10 seats provided by the park. We will open it to the next five people with their own kayaks who want to join. We will set out to discover what these low water levels have uncovered on the rocky cliffs and shorelines at the lake. You will learn about the history of how this lake came to be and discover plants and wildlife that call this place home.
There will be two times available:
- 9 am--noon that will leave by 9:15 am
- 4 pm--7 pm leaving by 4:15 pm.
Please arrive at the park and check in at least 15 minutes early to insure you will not be left behind or hold up the group.
This paddle is approximately five miles round trip. It is not suggested for children under the age of 8 years due to the length of time and physical demand of the trip.
Prepare for a lengthy time in the sun on water. Sunblock, weather and water appropriate clothing, water for drinking, snacks if you want or need it. If you chose to bring a camera, binoculars, or phone, you do so at your own risk.
