Learn the fundamentals of how to use a Stand-Up Paddle Board!
To all visitors signed up for this weekend’s “Kayak with a Ranger” and “Stand up Paddleboarding 101” programs:
Unfortunately the weather forecast shows thunderstorms forecast for Saturday. I am also the only Park Ranger here certified to take groups out on the water, and I am undergoing a last minute surgery on an infected knuckle tomorrow and will be cancelling this weekend’s kayaking and paddleboard activities so I will have time to recover from the surgery. We will be hosting this program again at the end of April. Please watch our Facebook page or website for that event to be posted. It should show up in the next week or so.
Learn how to use a stand-up paddleboard with an experienced Ranger as your guide. No experience necessary!
Thanks and I apologize for any inconvenience, Ranger Joel
For the first time we are pleased to announce a program that teaches you the basics of how to use a stand-up paddleboard. We have partnered with the park store, Sunset Marina, to offer this program. This program is for adults only (ages 13 and over) who are capable of mild to moderate exercise. You must rent the paddelboard from the park store for one hour to attend this program. Total cost per person will be $10 including tax. This program requires a reservation and will meet at the boat rental launch area near the activity center and the playground. You must contact Ranger Joel to participate in this event. Special instructions on what time to rent the paddleboard will be given at the time you make your reservation.
300 lb. weight limit per boat. Reservations required, contact Ranger Joel at 936.365.2201 x2058 or firstname.lastname@example.org Your reservation is not valid until we reply to your email or return your call to confirm the reservation and to discuss special instructions for this program.
Please arrive 15 minutes before launch time. We will launch from the activity center day use loop where the park boat rentals launch from.
Regular park admission fees of $5 per adult ages 13 and up apply.
SUP, paddles, and life jackets are provided by Lake Livingston State Park.
This event is subject to cancellation due to thunderstorms, cold weather, or high winds (or for any other safety issues).
