Explore the park at your own pace while photographing items on the scavenger hunt list. This is a great way to get your kids out and exploring, and maybe even noticing the little things in nature.
How It Works
We'll meet briefly at the picnic area between the playground and the pool at 9 am Aug. 16. A ranger will provide instructions, the scavenger hunt list, and some tips and guidance on where to find certain things and answer any questions. Then you're free to explore the park at your own pace throughout the rest of the day.If you can't make it at 9 am, scavenger hunt lists will be available at park headquarters.
At 8 pm, we'll meet back up at the Copperas Creek Picnic Shelter. There, a park ranger will look at your photos and check off your list. We'll also have a computer and projector setup so we can share our best or favorite photos with the rest of the group. We'll discuss our favorite moments from the day, anything interesting we saw, and maybe learn a bit about the plants, animals, or other objects we photographed.
Prizes for some of the best photographers! Open to any and all ages and skill levels.
Youth participants are encouraged to submit their photos to the 2014 Texas State Parks Arts Contest, which you can learn about here: http://www.tpwd.state.tx.us/state-parks/programs/arts-in-parks/
