This is an easy walk over fairly level terrain. Participants are welcome to stay for all or only part of the walk.
Meet our February Bird Hosts at the Goose Island State Park fishing pier for a morning bird walk. Les and Jane are returning to Goose Island State Park and will host our February bird walks. Plan on seeing a variety of birds on these walks, you can just observer or learn how to identify shorebirds in winter plumage and ducks in flight. Other species are often seen in the brush along the island.
At the end of the month check at the front office to see if the Saturday Shorebird Walk has been changed to a Woodland Bird Walk. As we go through the month of February our spring migrants should arrive, and once they have the walk schedule may change to Shorebird Walks on Wed/Fri and Woodland Bird Walks on Thur/Sat.
When: Saturday 8:30 a.m.
Where to meet: The parking area next to the fishing pier.
What are we doing: Bird Watching and Walking.
Things to bring: Binoculars, water, sun screen, shoes suitable for walking, a camera, and wear weather appropriate clothing. There will be a few pairs of binoculars available for loan, but it is best to bring your own.
