Look through a telescope, find constellations, and more!
South Llano River State Park was recently designated by the International Dark-Sky Association as an International Dark Sky Park! Come enjoy our dark skies at our first Star Party since this important designation.
Join Texas Tech University Outdoor School, Mason Stargazers, and park staff as we reenact the legend of Perseus, find our way around the night sky and look through telescopes. We'll also find out what the new International Dark Sky Park designation means for the park, and what we are doing to protect our dark skies.
Where: Park in overflow lot across from campsites 18 and 20. Program will be held at the Walk-in campground parking lot, just behind the overflow lot.
Who: Bring the whole family! All ages are welcome.
What to bring: A flashlight (red-light flashlight, or covered with red cellophane if possible) and lawn chairs. Dress for the weather!
Note: Park programs are open to the public and free with park entrance fee ($5 per adult ages 13 and up; children 12 and under are always free!). No need to register -- just show up!
