Meet at Tom Mays Unit at West Cottonwood Springs trailhead

Start: 9:00 a.m.

Length:  2-3 hours, 2 miles.

Difficulty level: Moderate - difficult.  Begin with a gradual incline over scree, or rubble, proving to be challenging for some; then transition to a steady climb over loose rubble/rocks.  At the summit of this hike we’ll cross a small wooden bridge where we encounter the towering Cottonwood Trees, a continuously dripping spring and an ecosystem all its own!  This hike is more difficult than the most recent Women’s Only hikes (longer, increased incline/climbing).

Bring:  Water, snacks, sturdy hiking shoes/boots and green accessories; optional: hiking stick, camera, binoculars, a map.

Driving Directions to Tom Mays Unit: From Westside from I-10, take exit #6 & travel east towards Mountains for 3.8 mi., pass park entrance on left, make u-turn, entrance on right.  From Eastside on Hwy 54, exit Transmountain Rd, travel west 7 miles over/thru the mountains, Park entrance on the right.
