General Access

Bannister WMAis part of the US Forest Service, Angelina National Forest. The Area has many former logging roads, forest service roads and county roads allowing access to all areas of the WMA. Gated roads used for walking routes are closed during the turkey nesting season.

NOTE: Roads may be closed on a seasonal basis. For more information on the National Forest, please call (936) 847-1068.

Permits Required

Hunters 17 years of age and older must possess an Annual Public Hunting Permit and valid hunting license. No permit is required for non-consumptive use. Check the current Public Hunting Lands map booklet for "Special Regulations in effect on US Forest Service Units."
