The prickly pear dots the landscape across most of Texas. Don't touch this cactus with your bare hands, or you'll have hundreds of tiny spines to get out! People make jelly out of the fruit of the prickly pear. People also cook and eat the pads of the cactus. Did you know that the cactus lives in the Americas (Western Hemisphere) but not the Eastern Hemisphere?
