AUSTIN, Texas — The Texas Parks and Wildlife Department is inviting public participation in a major revision of its 2005 Land and Water Resources Conservation and Recreation Plan.

"The Land and Water Plan," as it is commonly called, is the blueprint for how TPWD will fulfill its mission of managing and conserving the natural and cultural resources of Texas and providing hunting, fishing and outdoor recreation opportunities for the use and enjoyment of present and future generations.

"We understand that our mission involves and impacts a multitude of Texans — people who care about wildlife and open space, hunters, anglers, paddlers, private landowners and others — so we are actively seeking their input for this important revision of the plan," said TPWD Land Conservation Director Ted Hollingsworth. "We have been working with key stakeholders since April, but we want to be sure that anyone who has an interest in conservation and outdoor recreation has an opportunity to both hear from us and give us their thoughts on where we go from here."

The draft Plan will be available on the TPWD web site for public comments beginning July 17. TPWD welcomes public feedback and will accept comments through Sept. 18.
