TYLER — On Thursday, February 4, 2010, the Wood County Industrial Commission (WCIC) and the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department (TPWD) will be hosting a public meeting at Lake Fork. This "State of the Lake" meeting will feature presentations by TPWD Inland Fisheries biologists, local TPWD Law Enforcement, and the Sabine River Authority.

Two topics that are of concern to local residents are the management of invasive aquatic plants (particularly water hyacinth) and the status of water pumping facilities at Lake Fork. These topics will be discussed along with other issues such as the status of the largemouth bass fishery at Lake Fork and an update from TPWD Law Enforcement. A large portion of the meeting will be reserved for attendees to ask questions in a "town hall" format.

All local business owners, lake homeowners, fishing guides, recreational anglers, and anyone else with an interest in the resources at Lake Fork are invited to attend.

This public meeting will take place from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at the Land’s End Fire Department. The meeting will immediately follow the Wood County Industrial Commission’s monthly meeting which begins at 6:45 p.m. The WCIC meeting is also open to the public.

Driving directions to the Land’s End Fire Department: From Highway 515 (at Fisherman’s One Stop) take FM 1970 south for 3.6 miles towards the Links at Land’s End Golf Course.

For questions or additional information concerning the upcoming meeting, please contact TPWD Inland Fisheries management personnel in Tyler at (903) 593-5077.
