GLEN ROSE – This March, kids and families can learn how they can do their part to preserve their winged neighbors at Dinosaur Valley State Park’s first annual Spring Wingding.

The event, from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. on March 12, is a free community celebration of the return of spring birds and insects. Programming includes guest speakers, a guided hike, a kid’s corner, food, crafts and local vendors.

The event will also feature the Spring Wingding youth art contest winners. Any kid aged 18 and under can participate. Artwork must include a drawing or painting of a native Texas migratory bird or insect. Entries are due by March 2.

Judging will take place on March 4, and the winners will be announced at the Spring Wingding. Winners must be present at the event to choose their prize. For more information about contest rules and entry forms, visit the event website.

Businesses wishing to contribute prizes for contest winners can visit the event website and click on “Partners” or contact Nicole Gilbert at 254-897-4588, ext. 227.

Though the event is free, visitors must pay park entry fees, which are $7 for adults and free for children 12 and under.
