TPWD to Host Public Meeting on Palo Pinto Mountains State Park

FT. WORTH — The Texas Parks and Wildlife Department will hold two public meetings regarding the development of facilities and recreational uses proposed for Palo Pinto Mountains State Park. The meetings will take place on two consecutive nights.
- Aug. 10 at the Fort Worth Botanic Garden, 3220 Botanic Garden Blvd, Ft. Worth, Texas, 76107 from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. in the Oak Hall of the Garden Center.
- Aug. 11 at the Strawn School cafeteria, 224 East Walnut Street, Strawn, Texas, 76475 from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.
The purpose of the meeting is to present an overview of the facilities and recreational uses proposed for the park and receive comments that will guide future park development. Maps showing the facilities and recreational uses will be available for viewing at the meeting.
Palo Pinto Mountains State Park, which was purchased in 2011, encompasses more than 4,000 acres of former ranch land in the Cross Timbers region and straddles the Stephens and Palo Pinto County line. The park is not expected to be opened to the general public for another few years.
All interested citizens are invited to attend.
Written comments from the public on the project must be received by Sept. 1 in person, by mail or by e-mail.
