TPWD News Release — July 10, 2017

Public Meeting on State Park Development at Inks Lake July 13

BURNET- The Texas Parks and Wildlife Department (TPWD) will present plans and proposals for development of facilities and recreational use areas at the Inks Lake State Park complex during a public meeting July 13. The public is invited to attend and provide comment on the plans, which will affect Inks Lake State Park, nearby Longhorn Cavern State Park, and the road between the two, historic Park Road 4.

The meeting is open to the public and will be held July 13 from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at the City of Burnet Community Center, 1601 South Water St., Burnet.

Among the discussion topics is a now-closed golf course on the grounds of Inks Lake State Park. TPWD is proposing to turn the course, which closed in 2010, into a day-use recreational area.

Other potential developments include upgraded trails at both Inks Lake and Longhorn Cavern State Parks, construction of a hike-and-bike trail between the two parks, and an emphasis on Civilian Conservation Corps interpretive elements at Longhorn Cavern and along historic Park Road 4. Maps showing the planned developments will be available at the meeting.

The public may comment at the meeting or by mail or email. Deadline for comments is Aug. 4. Written comments may be submitted to:
