Future Parks
Texas Parks & Wildlife Department owns some exemplary pieces of Texas land. These tracts are located throughout the state, and include desert, forest, Gulf coast, and other unique ecosystems.
Powderhorn Ranch
The latest acquisition is the 17,351-acre Powderhorn Ranch. This property is one of the largest remaining tracts of unspoiled coastal prairie in the state. A coalition of conservation groups made this purchase possible in 2014.
Most of this tract is part of the Powderhorn Wildlife Management Area. But 2,253 acres will be developed as a state park.
