History of Pedernales Falls Hike

Pedernales Falls State Park
Join a ranger for a one mile hike down to the falls. We will discuss the history of Pedernales Falls and how it has shaped the wildlife, plants, and geology of the park as we see it today. This hike ends with a fascinating discovery in the rocks! (30-45 minutes)

Come walk with a ranger through a recently burned area of Pedernales Falls! We will explain why in the world firefighters would start a fire in our park ON PURPOSE! Prescribed burns are a very important tool for land management in our parks and we will show you why on this short hike (less than 1/2 mile).

Wood Carving and Scroll Saw Demonstration

Pedernales Falls State Park
Come to Pedernales Falls and take a look at how woodworkers made fancy designs in the late 1800s. These saws were making their debut at the same time that the first settlers were coming to the Pedernales Falls area from Germany. Hang around headquarters with park host Larry Roszell for a while and see this nifty saw in action at 11:00 and 2:00!
