El condado de Burnet está en proceso de adquirir estas parcelas de vendedores dispuestos para su transferencia al Departamento de Parques y Vida Silvestre de Texas (TPWD) a su propio coste.
Commission Agenda Item No. 3 Presenter: Ted Hollingsworth
Action Land Acquisition – Burnet County Approximately 27 Acres at Post Oak Ridge State Park November 5, 2026
I. Executive Summary: Staff requests authorization to acquire several contiguous right-of-way (ROW) tracts from Burnet County for improved road access to Post Oak Ridge State Park. Burnet County is in the process of acquiring these tracts from willing sellers for conveyance to Texas Parks and Wildlife Department (TPWD) at their cost.
II. Discussion: The 3,118-acre Post Oak Ridge State Park was acquired in 2025 as a Centennial Park and is currently under development, scheduled for opening to the public in 2029. The park sits on the Colorado River, opposite the 5,333-acre Colorado Bend State Park. Access to the new state park is via CR 105, an unimproved county road that runs approximately 4 miles to CR 104.
Once acquisition of the entire CR 105 ROW is complete, the county proposes to sell the ROW to TPWD at their cost, and CR 105 will become a TPWD-managed park road. TPWD will take appropriate steps to install gates, cattle crossings, and drainage infrastructure as needed to mitigate impacts to the affected landowners. As part of the development of the park, the road will be upgraded to park road standards.
III. Recommendation: Staff recommends that the Texas Parks and Wildlife Commission adopt the following motion:
“The Texas Parks and Wildlife Commission authorizes the Executive Director to take all necessary steps to acquire from a willing seller approximately 27 acres at Post Oak Ridge State Park.”
