Come hike our newest trail and hear the songs of Company 1823 CV!

Civilian Conservation Corps Company 1823 CV was made entirely of African American veterans. This company of young men built three parks in the state of Texas, one of them being Abilene State Park.

Our newest trail, Legacy Trail, takes you right by the old encampment where these men lived during their time building our park. We want to show you! Join one of our rangers on Juneteenth to learn about the way of life of the men in Company 1823 CV and hear the songs they were well known for.

When: Monday, June 19 from 10am to 12pm

Where: Meet at the Shelter Restrooms. We will walk down Bird Trail by the screen shelters and connect with the Legacy Trail.

Bring: Hiking shoes and water

Cost: $5 park entrance fee for anyone 13+ (12 and under are free)
