Black History Month Hike

In honor of the historic contributions of black Americans, Caddo Lake State Park is hosting a history hike concerning the Buffalo Soldiers, and black conservationists, scientists, and environmentalists.

  • EXPECT: Hike a moderate 0.7-mile hike with moderate hills. This hike will be centered around the history of the Buffalo Soldiers, black conservationists, scientists, and environmentalists.
  • WHEN: We’ll begin promptly at 10 a.m. and end at approximately 11:00 a.m.
  • WHERE: Volksmarch Trailhead (located behind bathroom in Knights Bluff camping loop).
  • WHAT TO BRING: Closed-toe shoes, weather appropriate clothing, and water.
  • COST AND FINE PRINT: Program is included in park entry fees- $3 per person ages 13 and older, 12 and under are free. No need to register, just show up! Programs are subject to cancellation in the event of inclement weather. Cancellations will be announced on Caddo Lake State Park Facebook page, or you can call park headquarters.
