Pond Dipping

Who lives beneath the water's edge? Join a park ranger to learn about the tiny critters that live in our lake!

  • Expect: Use dip nets to catch small aquatic insects and other animals, such as fish and tadpoles. All supplies are provided. Wear clothes that can get wet and muddy. You may pond dip from the shore or wade in the water with parental supervision.
  • When: We’ll begin promptly at 1PM and end at approximately 2PM.
  • Where: Meet at the swim beach. Parking available in the swim beach/boat ramp parking area.
  • What to Bring: Appropriate footwear and water. Wear clothes that can get wet or dirty. Don’t forget to put on sunblock and bug spray before you come out.
  • Cost and Fine Print: Program is included in park entry fees- $3 per person ages 13 and older, 12 and under are free. No need to register, just show up! Programs are subject to cancellation in the event of inclement weather. Cancellations will be announced on Atlanta State Park Facebook page or you can call Park HQ.
