Join us for an introduction to woodpeckers in the park! You will learn why woodpeckers are a Keystone Species, the eight types of woodpeckers found in East Texas, and the adaptations that make woodpeckers master carpenters.
- EXPECT: Basic overview of woodpeckers in the park, followed by a bird viewing hike.
- WHEN: We’ll begin at 10:00 AM and end at approximately 11:00 AM.
- WHERE: Meet at the Arrowhead Trailhead
- WHAT TO BRING: Appropriate footwear and water. Don’t forget to put on sunblock and bug spray before you come out. Bring binoculars for bird searching.
- COST AND FINE PRINT: Program is included in park entry fees- $3 per person ages 13 and older, 12 and under are free. No need to register, just show up! Programs are subject to cancellation in the event of inclement weather. Cancellations will be announced on Atlanta State Park Facebook page or you can call Park Headquarters.
