Swim for Those Who Have Served
Dive into the clear blue waters of Balmorhea with a swimming race and other activities honoring veteran suicide awareness.
Join us in showing gratitude for our veterans in a variety of ways, open to different levels of ability. You can:
- Listen to the opening address by Henry Castillo.
- Participate in the race (54 meters, any style).
- Swim a lap dedicated to the cause/remembrance.
- Write a supportive note or card to our local veterans.
To sign up for the race, email emily.dickerson@tpwd.texas.gov with your name and the number of people that will be racing. Anyone is welcome to participate! Please be aware that signing up for the race is not the same as making a day use reservation to enter the park, which is highly encouraged as we do tend to sell out on summer weekends. You can make reservations here.
Let’s give our thanks to our veterans and spread some positivity to those who may be shouldering the burdens of their service with some lighthearted competition and creativity!
- Meet: In the pool area, check in at the double-arched shaded area between the bathhouses
- Cost: Free with park entry
- Bring: A swimsuit, a towel, food and a water bottle
