First Day Hike: Fresno Divide Trail

Ring in the New Year with a ranger-led hike. You will explore some of the most spectacular natural and historical landscapes in Big Bend Ranch State Park!

Texas state parks centennial logoThe Fresno Divide trail is a moderate to difficult 6.4-mile hike (3.2 miles one way) You will see breathtaking views of the Bofecillos Mountains, Fresno Creek, the Contrabando Dome, and the Flatirons of the Solitario. There are archeological sites along the way, which offer a view into the park's past.  

Bring: Water, snacks

Wear: Layers, hiking boots/shoes, and a hat

Optional: Binoculars, hiking stick, camera, and a map.

Fee: Free with park entry: $5 for adults, free for children 12 and under.

Meet: At the West Contrabando Trailhead approximately 6.5 miles west of Barton Warnock Visitor Center, along FM 170 (River Road).
