Dive into the New Year with a dip in the cool waters of the Rio Grande!
What better way to end 2022 and kick off 100 years of Texas State Parks than with a dip in the cool, refreshing waters of the Rio Grande!
This event is free and all park admissions will be waived for participants. We are Freezin' for a Reason! In lieu of park entrance fees, please donate a minimum $5 to Big Bend Citizens Alliance which will have a booth set up at the event.
The Big Bend Citizens Alliance is a community organization dedicated to addressing issues affecting the health, welfare, and quality of life in the Big Bend area.
What to expect: Food, Cozy fires, freezing water, and a good time! Prizes awarded for the best family-friendly costume!
11:45 AM: Late Registration & Check In
12:00 PM: Opening Remarks & River Health Presentation
12:30 PM: Plunge Time!

Meet at La Cuesta campground boat ramp. Located 15 miles from Barton Warnock Visitor Center.
Dress in layers and gear you are willing to get wet.
Optional: Family-friendly costume or ugly Holiday sweater.
Fees: All day-use fees will be waived for event participants. Instead, we ask that you make a donation to Big Bend Citizens Alliance (BBCA).
