Frio en el Rio - Polar Plunge

Dive into the New Year with a dip in the cool waters of the Rio Grande!

What better way to end 2023 than with a dip in the cool, refreshing waters of the Rio Grande!

This event is free and all park admissions will be waived for participants. We are Freezin' for a Reason! In lieu of park entrance fees,  please donate a minimum $5 to Big Bend Trails Alliance which will have a booth set up at the event. 

The Big Bend Trails Alliance helps build and maintain the iconic trails that Big Bend Ranch State Park cyclists, hikers, and equestrian users enjoy. 

What to expect: S'mores, a cozy fire, freezing water, and a good time! 

11:45 AM: Late Registration & Check In

12:00 PM: Opening Remarks & River Health Presentation

12:30 PM: Plunge Time!

Meet at La Cuesta campground boat ramp. Located 15 miles west of Barton Warnock Visitor Center and 35 miles east of Fort Leaton State Historic Site. 

Dress in layers and gear you are willing to get wet.

Cost: All day-use fees will be waived for event participants. Instead, we ask that you make a donation to Big Bend Trails Alliance (BBTA).
