Learn the basics to birding and identify some of the birds that live in the Lost Pines!

Learn the basics of birding like how to use binoculars correctly, what identification books are useful, what birding apps are out there and what they do, and how you can make your backyard more bird friendly. Then sit back and see what birds we can identify at Bastrop SP Lake now that we finally have some water in it! We've seen green herons, woodpeckers, kestrels and more in past sits.

Meet at the picnic table under the pine trees at the Bastrop SP Lake. Limited parking available so carpool if you have a group.

Bring bottled water, your binoculars, and a folding chair if you want a more comfortable seat!

We will have a few extra binoculars to borrow during the program on a first come first serve basis.

There is no restroom at the meeting location so please use the restroom at the Headquarters building, Piney Hill restroom or Copperas Creek restroom before arriving at the meeting location.

Program is free after park entrance fees are paid. Park entrance fees are $5 per adult, children 12 and under are free.
