Join a park naturalist and learn about light trapping to attract bugs. Get tips on where to look for moths and other insects, how to start to identify these diverse creatures, and see some of the local moths that can be found at Bentsen!
Update 7/18/26: Meeting at La Familia Nature Center
Join us for Light Trapping for Moths as we see what moths and other insects are drawn in to UV light. Learn about different species of moths, how to ID, and their environmental benefits.
- Bring: water and weather appropriate clothing. A camera / phone is recommended. Feel free to bring your own light trap set up if you have one.
- Meet: La Familia Nature Center. Cross the canal levee and the main park entrance gate.
- Registration: No RSVP required
Cost: Entry fee is $5 for adults and FREE 12 & under (Park entry free with Texas State Park Pass.).
