Canceled Edible and Medicinal Plants Walkabout

9:00a to 11:00a
Sun, September 25, 2022

Join us for a walkabout at Blanco State Park where we will learn to identify edible and medicinal plants from one of the leading experts, Mark "Merriwether" Vorderbruggen, Ph.D., author of numerous related articles and books.

Have you looked around and wondered what plants are edible or have medicinal value? Mark "Merriwether" Vorderbruggen, Ph.D. will be doing a “walkabout” at Blanco State Park.

If you follow him on social media, you know he is not only knowledgeable but entertaining. Mark is often (somewhat) jokingly described as a scientist raised by wolves. His website has been one of the top wild edible/medicinal plant sites on the internet. He's written countless foraging articles for a wide variety of magazines, taught hundreds of foraging walkabouts, appeared on radio, TV, and podcasts galore and wrote the acclaimed books Idiot's Guide Foraging and Outdoor Adventures Guide Foraging.

We will hike (walk) around the park on various surface areas, including grassy, paved, or rocky with slight inclines and descents, for up to two total miles.

Meet:  In front of the CCC Pavilion near the campground

Wear:  Sturdy shoes and appropriate clothing for the weather

Bring:  Water, sunscreen, and insect repellent (if desired)

Cost:  Free with paid park admission, which is $5 for adults and youth ages 13 and older
