Take a short hike at Blanco State Park and start your year off right!

Take part in a nationwide initiative to hit the trail on New Year's Day. With two short trails to choose from, the Pumphouse Trail and the Caswell Nature Trail, you can plan your own first First Day Hike to suit your needs. After you hike on your own on January 1, please stop by Park HQ and let us know how long you hiked for so your footsteps can contribute to Texas's statewide First Day Hike totals!

The Pumphouse Trail is an accessible trail with a level, crushed granite surface and interpretive plant signs to help you learn more about the riverside ecosystem. Plan to stop at the Wildlife Viewing Blind to search for winter birds.

The Caswell Nature Trail features a walk through tree tunnel and rocky limestone ledges, and overlooks the river in a few scenic spots.

Access to trails is FREE with paid park entry, which is $5 per person ages 13 and up.
