Discovery Table: Building Blocks of the CCC

The Civilian Conservation Corps built Buescher and Bastrop State Parks, learn how they built beautiful archways and try your hand at making a "stone" arch!

The CCC built our park and many other across the state! Their legacy still holds today as people use the buildings they built in the 1930's! They didn't just make sturdy buildings that have lasted almost a century; they also took time to make them unique with beautiful touches that took lots of skill. Learn one of their tricks of the trade on how to build a stone archway. Try your hand and see if you can figure out the technique. 

Where: Fishing and Picnic Area that has the Concrete Stilling Well. It has a dirt road off of the main park road. We will meet at the concrete picnic tables. 

This program is free after park entrance fee has been paid. Entrance fee is $5 per adult. Children 12 and under are free!
