Carry the Weight: Kayak Together to Combat Veteran Suicide.
Join us as Cooper Lake State Park Doctors Creek Unit hosts the 1st Annual Veteran Suicide Awareness Kayaking Ruck on September 28, 2024.
This event aims to connect community partners with our veteran community, particularly focusing on reaching under-served veteran populations.
In lieu of park entry fees, donations benefiting a local veterans association will be collected from kayaking participants on this day in honor of the event.
Meet at Lone Pine Boat Ramp Parking lot at 10 a.m. Reserve your spot today!
Join a ranger to learn the basics of kayaking. Limited equipment available. Reserve your kayak today. Ask about available kayaks to use when registering. Email alicia.o'connor@tpwd.texas.gov or call the park office, (903) 395-3100 to register.
Children under 10 must be accompanied by an adult in a tandem kayak. Life jackets will be provided and worn by all participants. Have your own kayak, bring it with you.
Bring your refillable water bottle, towel, water shoes, and sunscreen.
