Chasing the Milky Way - A Night Photography Session

7:30p to 11:00p
Fri, September 27, 2019
Will Speer

Join Park Volunteer Chris Emory and a Park Ranger for a fun evening under the stars.

Our volunteer will show a few tips and tricks for capturing the night sky.  Weather permitting, the emphasis will be shooting photographs of the Milky Way and possible light painting whatever cool objects that can be found, if time allows.

This program is open to everyone with an interest in learning night sky photography.  However, point and shoot cameras will not be suitable for long exposure shots.  No camera, no problem - Join us for a tutorial on night time photography and take notes.

THINGS TO BRING:  It's suggested to bring a DSLR camera that has manual settings and interchangeable lenses. A sturdy tripod is a must and a red-lense flashlight.  The red lense  is helpful in protecting night vision.  It's recommended to wear comfortable shoes, bring a lawn chair or your seating preference, bug spray, water bottle, snacks and other item(s) for your comfort.

Recommendation: Good working knowledge of your camera with manual functions.

WHERE TO MEET: Star viewing area next to the Equestrian trail head parking lot.

The program is free with paid park entrance or with a Texas State Park Pass.
