Creatures of the Night

8:45p to 9:45p
Sat, August 17, 2019
Will Speer
(940) 839-4331

Come out and join one of our park rangers for a night hike. We might see scorpions and other creatures of the night.

Like all our night hikes, this night hike will be kid-friendly and may include stargazing, owls, scorpions, tarantulas, alligators lizards, frogs, bats and more.

You've seen the park in the daytime, now you should see it at night. You never know what may happen but plans include:

  • spider-sniffing (maybe even tarantulas!)
  • scorpions glowing under black lights
  • night jars
  • roosting waterfowl
  • other creatures of the night. Anything is possible including armadillos, owls, frogs, bobcats, snakes, bats...

Meet at the Bull Canyon trailhead. Possible things to bring but not necessary: head lamp with red light, Insect repellent, water, binoculars, hiking poles. Suitable for all ages.

Program is free with paid park admission or Texas State Park Pass.
