Book a Ranger Program for Your Group

Book a ranger program from our selection of walks and talks, limited to a single group of no more than 10 who are travelling together. Book at HQ window, or by calling (432) 426-3337. Limit of 2 programs per group per week.

HOW TO BOOK:

  • Camping, lodging or day use reservations must be secured before booking.
  • Programs can be booked up to 2 weeks in advance or by 4pm the day before program.
  • Group must be travelling together, 10 or less
  • Choose your program, time and date
  • Book program by 4PM the day BEFORE your program by calling (432) 426-3337, or in person at Park HQ window between 8am – 5pm.

Face masks are strongly encouraged, with social distancing observed.

PROGRAMS:

Campground Birding Walk. Offered Wednesdays at 9:30am (1.5 hrs). Location: Emory Oak Bird Blind. Join park hosts and experienced birders Steve and Sue on a birding walk along our wooded park roads and identify what’s flying by. Binoculars recommended.

The Comeback Bears of Big Bend. Can be offered Wed – Sat at 10AM, 2PM (45 min). Location: Group Picnic Area (shaded with seating). Hear 3 Big Bend stories about these resilient creatures, including one grisly tale from 1900 that you’ll bear-ly believe! (T. Priest)

Critter Cam Captures. Can be offered Wed – Sat, 10AM, 2PM (30 – 45 min). Location: Group Picnic Area (shaded with seating). Come see some of our park’s best wildlife camera photos and learn about the wild things that call this park home. (T. Priest)

Davis Mountains Survival Hike. Ranger hike and talk, 2 hrs. Can be offered at 9AM and 2PM Wed – Sat. Location: Meet at far DEAD END of Skyline Drive at Lookout Shelter. Do you have what it takes to survive in the rugged Davis Mountains? Have fun testing your survival instincts on a moderate 2-mile hike as we encounter several “survival scenarios”. Sun protection and water recommended. (T. Priest)

Tales of Fort Davis. Available for booking Thursdays and Fridays at 10am (45 min). Location: Meet outside the Indian Lodge Gift Shop. Join Ranger Charlie for a local history talk of how the coolest town in Texas came to be. Mostly a seated talk, but expect some walking for an outdoor tour of Indian Lodge.
