PROGRAMS

  • The Comeback Bears of Big Bend. Can be offered Wed – Sat at 10AM, 2PM (45 min). Location: Group Picnic Area (shaded with seating). Hear 3 Big Bend stories about these resilient creatures, including one grisly tale from 1900 that you’ll bear-ly believe! (T. Priest)

  • Critter Cam Captures. Can be offered Wed – Sat, 10AM, 2PM (30 – 45 min). Location: Group Picnic Area (shaded with seating). Come see some of our park’s best wildlife camera photos and learn about the wild things that call this park home. (T. Priest)

  • Davis Mountains Survival Hike. Ranger hike and talk, 2 hrs. Can be offered at 9AM Wed – Sat. Location: Meet at far DEAD END of Skyline Drive at Lookout Shelter. Do you have what it takes to survive in the rugged Davis Mountains? Have fun testing your survival instincts on a moderate 2-mile hike as we encounter several “survival scenarios”. Sun protection and water recommended. (T. Priest)

  • Tales of Fort Davis. Available for booking Thursdays and Fridays at 10am (45 min). Location: Meet outside the Indian Lodge Gift Shop. Join Ranger Charlie for a local history talk of how the coolest town in Texas came to be. Mostly a seated talk, but expect some walking for an outdoor tour of Indian Lodge.
  • Walk on the Wild Side. Ranger-led hike, 1.5 hrs. Available for booking Wed - Sat 9AM and 2PM. Meet at Park HQ. We’ll head across the highway to explore the park’s lower elevations to look for signs of life on the wild side. Hike is less than 2 miles but involves some uneven rocky terrain. (Ranger Ty)
