Girl Scouts Love State Parks - River Romp
Sat, September 14, 2024
Come along as we walk the Paluxy River Trail in search of dinosaur tracks!
Join along as we walk the Paluxy River Trail and keep an eye on the river for 113-million-year-old dinosaur tracks and modern creatures that inhabit the park today!
There will be two hike options:
- A 1-mile hike round trip along the Paluxy River Trail from the Ballroom Site to Main Track Site which will include 4 sets of stairs.
- A shorter, accessible hike (approximately 1/2 a mile) on flat terrain from the Blue Hole Overlook to the Main Track Site. Dinosaur Valley will have GRIT wheelchairs for this event. Please contact Ranger Laney at anna.kohout@tpwd.texas.gov to reserve & check availability.
Meet: At the Dino Models
Bring: Water and sturdy shoes
Cost: Anyone 13 or older who can show an affiliation with the GSA (via vest, t-shirt, troop number, etc.) will receive free entry into the park, no reservation required. Children 12 and younger already receive free entry to all Texas State Parks. As long as parents and troop leaders can show proof they are part of the GSA, the entry will be free.
Parking: Parking will be limited the morning of this event. We recommend carpooling with your group if possible. We also recommend arriving early to allow time to stop at Headquarters and obtain your vehicle permit, find a parking space, grab your water, and head to the Dino Models.
All participants must be accompanied by a caregiver at all times.
