Introduction to Fishing Basics - Sea Center Texas

Come learn the basics of fishing at this fun, FREE clinic!

This free class is designed to introduce participants ages 6 and up to the sport of fishing using fun, hands-on activities. 

Topics will include fishing rules and regulations and ethics; fishing safety; marine debris and it’s impact on the environment; rods, reels, and terminal tackle; fishing knots; assembling a spin cast rod and reel; identification/handling/measuring in shore salt water fish, what they eat and where to find them; equipping your tackle box; spin cast casting instruction/practice; a tour of the fish hatchery; and, weather permitting, a chance to catch and release a fish at Sea Center Texas.

Please bring water, snacks and a lunch to eat on site.  Expect to be outside about half the time and dress accordingly, wear sunscreen, sunglasses and a hat. 

All educational materials and equipment and bait are provided. 

No fishing license is required for this activity.

Youth must be accompanied by an adult at all times - No drop-offs, please. 

The event is free, but pre-registration is required. To register:
