Angler Education Instructor Training Workshop with optional Fly-Fishing Instructor certification.

Become a TPWD Certified Angler Education Instructor

This free workshop is open to anyone 18 or older interested in teaching fishing skills in their communities. The program provides the curriculum, equipment (where available), materials and support to help volunteers successfully introduce youth and their families to fishing. Ideal for city Parks and Rec. staff, teachers, scout or youth group leaders, afterschool or camp staff and community volunteers. TEA-approved CPE available for teachers. Please wear comfortable outdoor clothing and shoes, bring a sack lunch, snacks if desired and water bottle, preferable not a single use plastic one. 

Pre-registration is required BEFORE the workshop.  To register for the workshop, click on the link below and select the blue "Sign Up" button. The main session is for conventional fishing. Everyone must click on that shift and sign up. 

**Optional Fly Fishing Instructor Certification for experienced fly fishers will be offered from 3pm to 5pm for those attending the workshop. To register for the Fly Fishing instructor session, click on the Fly Fishing Shift on the link referenced below. (You must attend both sessions to receive fly fishing certification.) Bring your own fly rod for the certification workshop. 

For new TPWD volunteers: Click on the blue "New Volunteer" link on the left and follow the prompts to create a volunteer profile.

Please remember to authorize and complete the Criminal Background Check section. All fields must be completed including your date of birth and Driver's License number.

For Current TPWD Volunteers: click on the "log in" link, enter your TPWD User ID and password.
